A South Auckland lifestyle farmer has been banned from running young cattle, after two of his animals had to be euthanised

A South Auckland lifestyle farmer has been banned from running young cattle, after two of his animals had to be euthanised

MPI inspectors visited Sam Salevao's property in May last year, finding 12 extremely thin young calves, with no adequate food or shelter available.

District Manager of Animal Welfare, Cody Taylor, says after euthanising a calf on the first visit, another saw the same fate when they returned, despite instruction on how to care for them.

Salevao is barred from owning or tending to calves under a year old, for two years.
