Dave Bautista has said Henry Cavill has been "a beast" while making Highlander

During an interview with JoBlo, the former WWE star, 56, said: "Henry's a beast. He is a beast, man.

"I have so much respect for this guy ... cause we started working together ... before we started filming. And watching this guy's hustle and his grind is impressive.

"Henry's the real deal, and he's a good human being. Like, he treats people really good. He's a real gentleman. But [also] a legit bada**.

"I was impressed. I didn't know what to expect, you know, I've only ever seen him on film. But I was super impressed with him."

The Trap House star added filming for Highlander would start back up again on November 28 after Cavill's recent leg injury brought production to a halt.

Even so, Bautista admitted preparing for Highlander has been "hard", describing his training schedule as "a grind".

The Dune actor said: "This is hard, and I've been through professional wrestling on and off for 20 years.

"And with the training they're doing on Highlander, for this film, it's hard. Like daily ... I'm beat up. It's a grind."

In Highlander, immortal warrior Connor MacLeod (Cavill) battles across centuries, facing duels with others like him.

In modern-day New York, he must confront his greatest foe to claim the ultimate prize.

The movie also stars Russell Crowe as Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramierez, Karen Gillan as MacLeod's wife Heather and Jeremy Irons as the leader of The Watchers.

Cavill recently confirmed he was forced to drop out of Highlander temporarily after sustaining an injury to his calf, and had gone back home to recover.

On Instagram, the Man of Steel star posted a photo of himself resting with his left leg on a coffee table, and added the caption: "Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.

"In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.

"Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid.

"It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul (sic)."
