A day of wind and rain across much of the country

A day of wind and rain across much of the country

The Coromandel Peninsula, Gisborne-Tairawhiti, Bay of Plenty and Hawke's Bay are under Orange Rain Warnings, with the chance of surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions.

Much of the North Island and upper and western South Island are under Orange Wind Warnings.

MetService's John Law says the bad weather's being caused by an active low pressure system, moving over the country today and early tomorrow.

He says the low pressure system is moving southwards, driving in rain on northeasterly winds.
