Quarter of a million dollars will be spent investigating Porirua's pipes in the coming months

Quarter of a million dollars will be spent investigating Porirua's pipes in the coming months

Wellington Water crews will be out in Titahi Bay inspecting both public and private pipes to improve water quality.

If there's any cost to fix faults on private property, people will be able to apply for assistance to spread the cost via their Porirua City Council rates.

Wellington Water chief executive Colin Crampton says leaking or damaged pipes pollute our rivers, streams and beaches.

The project, titled Knowing your Pipes, will cost 250-thousand dollars.
