    Police are keen to confirm the safety of boaties, who set off a flare near Nelson's Haulashore Island about 10 last night


    It sparked a Search and Rescue call-out, with responses from Coastguard, Surf Lifesaving, and the Harbour Master.

    Witnesses report seeing two people in a small dinghy about then - and Police would like reassurance from them they're okay.
