Two people charged with murder have appeared in court - after an alleged car theft turned fatal in Auckland's Point England

A man was found dead in the middle of Point England Road on Saturday night.

Police say he appears to have been run over by his own car - which was driven extensively around Auckland while stolen.

22-year-old Amy Joy Parker and a 21-year-old man with name suppression - are jointly charged with murder.

They were both remanded without plea, and will appear in the High Court later this month.
