A drunk driver has been jailed for more than three years, for the death of a 14-year-old Kaea Conan Matau in Auckland

Tere Moe-kore hit the teen on a marked pedestrian crossing in Papatoetoe earlier this year.

She was over four times the legal limit for alcohol, and travelling nearly twice the speed limit - she was also driving on a learner license, without a supervisor.

An overflow crowd of family and supporters showed up at the 30-year-old's sentencing, in the Manakau District Court.

The judge notes Moe-kore still doesn't appear to grasp the seriousness of what she's done and shows little remorse. 11-02-24 1133
