A crane barge is expected to recover a sunken fishing vessel in the Hauraki Gulf today

A crane barge is expected to recover a sunken fishing vessel in the Hauraki Gulf today

The two fishermen who were aboard were safely rescued, and dead fish have since been spotted near Kawau Island since Tuesday.

Harbourmaster Andrew Hayton says a clean-up of fish bins, nets and plastic containers around the area is complete, while divers have plugged all diesel and oil vents on the vessel.

No major diesel or oil slick is reported.
