The partner of an Australian diplomat has pleaded guilty to an assault - during a night out in Wellington

A video emerged late last year showing a man yelling a homophobic slur and claiming he had diplomatic immunity.

A man's pleaded guilty to common assault in the Wellington District Court today.

The man has interim name suppression and will apply for a discharge without conviction at his next hearing.
