    A man's seriously injured following an assault in Lower Hutt last night


    Police were called to a car park on The Strand in Wainuiamata around 10pm, following a report of people fighting.

    Those involved left the scene in two vehicles before officers arrived.

    A short time later, emergency services were required to help a man with serious injuries on Riverside Drive, believed to be from the altercation.

    Police are asking for witnesses to come forward.
