An emotional rollercoaster for Auckland FC after last night's 2-nil away triumph over Melbourne Victory in football's A-League

An emotional rollercoaster for Auckland FC after last night's 2-nil away triumph over Melbourne Victory in football's A-League

The Black Knights could have secured the Premiers Plate with two rounds remaining had Western Sydney beaten Melbourne City.

The Wanderers took a 2-nil lead while Auckland's players were heading back to their hotel.

By the time they sat down for a team meal - it was 2-all.

Auckland FC director of football Terry McLean says their group thought the silverware was there's after Western Sydney found the back of the net deep into injury time.

Auckland FC host Perth Glory next Sunday - a win would guarantee them the Premiers Plate and top seeding ahead of the playoffs.
