Two teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and carjacking another, in Auckland this morning

Police say the 16 and 17-year-old drove a stolen car to Birkenhead on the North Shore just after 1am - then pulled a man from his vehicle and jumped behind the wheel.

The Eagle helicopter followed the car southbound, before spikes were successfully deployed on the Lambie Drive off-ramp.

The pair will face court on aggravated robbery and dangerous driving charges.
