There will be a heavy police presence in Auckland's Mount Wellington as officers carry out a homicide investigation in the area

A man arrived at a medical centre in the area with stab injuries yesterday afternoon - and was transported to Auckland City Hospital where he died.

Police say he was involved in an earlier altercation with people in a hatchback vehicle, on Harris Road.

The car was later found by police in Ellerslie.

Police are seeking any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
