The Highlanders have signed promising Southland playmaker Mika Muliaina for the next four years

The Highlanders have signed promising Southland playmaker Mika Muliaina for the next four years

Muliaina, who debuted for the Stags in this year's NPC as an 18-year-old, will be on a national development contract with the Highlanders next year.

He was on standby for this year's New Zealand Under-20 campaign and is likely to play a bigger role next year.

Muliaina will step up to a three-year deal with the main squad, beginning in 2027 - the same year Chiefs and Taranaki pivot Josh Jacomb heads south.

Muliaina is the nephew of All Blacks centurion Mils.
