Rescue efforts at Mount Maunganui are now entering their third day

Rescue efforts at Mount Maunganui are now entering their third day

Six people remain unaccounted for after a large slip buried part of the campsite on Thursday - covering tents and campervans.

Local iwi leaders have been speaking to the families affected.

Tracy Ngatoko, of the Tauranga Moana iwi, says she's spoken to an Italian father whose two children are under the rubble.

She says they can only send aroha and empathy to everyone who is affected.
