    Northlanders are waking up in their first day of alert level three


    The alert level setting will be reviewed alongside the settings for everywhere else except Auckland, on Monday.

    Police have set up five checkpoints at the region's southern border.

    They're at State Highway One and Mangawhai Road, Mangawhai Road north of Coal Hill Road, Black Swamp west of Rako Road, Mangawhai Road and Cames Road and Mangawhai Road and Ryan Road.
