Details remain scarce around a Covid-positive woman who travelled around Northland

Details remain scarce around a Covid-positive woman who travelled around Northland

The Covid-19 Response Minister says the case is still being uncooperative with contact tracing efforts.

It's understood she was travelling with another woman, who police haven't been able to locate yet.

The pair had been spotted on CCTV at the Comfort Hotel Flames in Whangarei.

Chris Hipkins says there's no evidence to support rumours circulating on social media about the case.

He hasn't yet been informed of the infected person's occupation or associations.

Locations of interest in Northland so far include two petrol stations, a dairy, Comfort Hotel Flames and DOC's Uretiti Campsite in Waipu.

Te Tai Tokerau Border Control has set up three iwi-led travel checkpoints across the region, with more expected today.
