    Police are increasing numbers in Beach Haven on Auckland's North Shore after an early morning shooting


    Locals say they were woken by gunshots and screeching tyres about 6.30am.

    One says a tradie was shot at inside his ute - but "by the grace of God" wasn't injured.

    Shots were also fired at a home's windows.

    Waitemata Police's Detective Inspector Simon Harrison says police found bullet casings on Rambler Cresent, and a home and vehicle were damaged, but no one injured.

    He says officers will be be in the area throughout the afternoon, as they continue to make inquiries.
