Transporting New Zealand says increases in Auckland port fees will be passed on to consumers

Transporting New Zealand says increases in Auckland port fees will be passed on to consumers

Fees per container at peak times will increase from 130 dollars to 180 dollars in January 2026.

They'll then jump to 350 dollars in January 2027.

Transporting New Zealand Policy Director Billy Clemens says it's bad timing for increases.

He says they're asking the Port of Auckland to reconsider the size of the increases at a time when economic growth is sluggish.

The company says the cost has been well forecast with more than nine months notice for companies.
