    The hosts posted 269 for seven thanks to Daryl Mitchell's 119 off 118 balls, despite a tweak downstairs.



    The visitors reached 262 for six in reply, needing 20 off the final over.

    Pace bowler Kyle Jamieson returned figures of three for 52 from his allotment.

    The second match is in Napier on Wednesday.
