Almost 5-thousand households across the Wellington region remain without power

Almost 5-thousand households across the Wellington region remain without power

Severe gales, and torrential rain has caused trees and power lines across Wellington, Hutt Valley and Porirua to fall.

Wellington Electricity says it's working towards restoring power as soon as possible, but rapidly changing conditions could leave some people in the dark for days.

It expects to have homes fully restored by Wednesday.
