Bryson DeChambeau has had to learn an expensive lesson before the third round of the latest PGA Tour event in Charlotte

Bryson DeChambeau has had to learn an expensive lesson before the third round of the latest PGA Tour event in Charlotte

The American flew home to Dallas, thinking he'd missed the cut after a tough finish to his second round when he closed at two-over, two shots adrift of the projected cut at the time.

However tough conditions at Quail Hollow meant the cut moved and his score ended up being good enough.

DeChambeau's carded a three-under third round to be one-under overall.

Compatriot Keith Mitchell leads by two shots at nine-under.
