    Justin Rose has surged into contention for a second FedEx Cup title with victory in the opening playoffs event on golf's PGA Tour in Memphis


    The Englishman was successful at the third time of asking after he and American JJ Spaun matched through the first two sudden-death-playoff holes.

    Now 45, Rose leaps to fourth in the season standings with two events to come.
