A flurry of work is set to start on Christchurch roads, swimming pools and playgrounds once the lockdown eases

The Christchurch City Council is planning to fast-track maintenance while facilities and services remain closed or lightly used.

Existing construction projects will be resumed to help restart the local economy and save jobs.

Mayor Lianne Dalziel says a rent holiday to the end of May for bars and restaurants leasing footpath areas could need extending.
