Leylah Fernandez is hurting after losing the US tennis Open final in straight sets

Leylah Fernandez is hurting after losing the US tennis Open final in straight sets

The 19-year-old Canadian was beaten by 18-year-old Brit Emma Raducanu 6-4 6-3 in the final.

Fernandez had an extraordinary run to the final, beating defending champion Naomi Osaka, 16th seed Angelique Kerber, fifth seed Elina Svitolina and second seed Aryna Sabalenka.

Fernandez says she's going to carry the loss for a while, but she's pleased with her achievements both on and off the court over the past two weeks.

Meanwhile Raducanu's on cloud nine after winning her first major.
