Fritz rallied from 2-5 down in the third and deciding set to wrap up a 4-6, 6-4, 7-3 victory.
he'll face Nikoloz Basilashvili in the semifinals who earlier stunned second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's Michael Venus takes part in the doubles semifinals later this afternoon.
