A six month delay in the completion of the Puhoi to Warkworth motorway, north of Auckland

A six month delay in the completion of the Puhoi to Warkworth motorway, north of Auckland

It's now expected to open in time for Queen's Birthday weekend in 2022.

It comes as NZTA and Fletcher Building reached an agreement on how to manage the covid-19 delays - which includes an 85-million dollar payment to cover the cost of the delays.

NZTA's transport services general manager Brett Gliddon says the original October 2021 completion date was axed, when five weeks of the earthmoving season was lost during lockdown.

He says that meant they couldn't do the earthworks they had planned, and they can't be done during the winter so they have to wait until this summer.
