Deep concern over recent violence towards children

Deep concern over recent violence towards children

A 37-year-old man's been charged with murder - after bringing a young child's body to Manukau Police Station early yesterday morning.

On New Year's Day, a 34-year-old man was accused of murdering a baby in Hamilton.

And investigations continue into a five-month-old baby being seriously injured in Dargaville in late December.

Child Matters CEO, Jane Searle, says there's a trend of violence towards the young during this season.

She says fixing it will take time, but we have to make a start to changes - to stop years starting off like this.
