    If you thought Christmas was quickly creeping up on us - you would be right .... the Auckland Christmas tree will be lit up tonight to kick off the holiday season


    At 18.4 metres high, the tree at Te Komititanga Public square in lower Queen Street is wrapped in more than 10 thousand LED lights, 4 thousand Pohutukawa flowers and 200 stainless-steel baubles.

    There will also be live performances headlined by Drax Project who will be joined by the Auckland Youth Choir for timeless Christmas carols.

    The tree will be lit at 8:15 this evening.
