Auckland FC coach Steve Corica's hopeful the looming Football World Cup will inspire many of the club's players to new A-League heights this season

Auckland FC coach Steve Corica's hopeful the looming Football World Cup will inspire many of the club's players to new A-League heights this season

The Black Knights open their new campaign away to Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.

Several members of the squad are in contention for teams already qualified for next year's global showpiece in North America - and Corica believes that carrot will be helpful to their club cause, too.
