    Two people have died in a crash north of Christchurch overnight

    Two people have died in a crash north of Christchurch overnight


    Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on Butchers Road, near Kaiapoi, just after midnight.

    Two people died at the scene, while another person has minor injuries.

    The road will remain closed for much of the day, while a power pole is repaired.

    More than one hundred homes in the area are without power.
