Christchurch's new metro sports centre is already undergoing maintenance, less than two months after opening

The hydroslides are closed until tomorrow while the manufacturer carries out quality checks and repairs.

More than 160 incidents were reported at the centre within its first month - 33 involved cuts and bruises on the hydroslides.

The City Council says the work focuses on repairing and replacing the silicone between slide tubes, and adjusting water flow and timing lights to improve safety.
