A Christchurch man slain in a violent incident -- has been farewelled

Fijian born Faiz Ali was found dead at an Armagh Street block of flats on Sunday.

Ali was laid to rest at the Ruru Lawn Cemetery last night -- and prayers were held at the Al Noor mosque.

Travel restrictions kept his family in Fiji from attending -- but his brother told the NZ Herald they prayed together as Ali's funeral was held.

A 38-year-old man's been charged with murder and appeared in the Christchurch District Court, earlier this week.
