Cantabrians are being reminded Covid cases are unlikely to drop to the lows seen last year

Cantabrians are being reminded Covid cases are unlikely to drop to the lows seen last year

The CDHB is anticipating ongoing peaks and troughs, as the South Island continues to top daily Omicron figures.

Canterbury had 1099 new cases on Tuesday, up from 1013 on Monday and 978 on Sunday.

Canterbury University Covid modeller Michael Plank says such figures could keep being the new normal.

He says the region isn't going to get back down to the numbers seen during summer.
