    A father has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his son in a fiery car crash in North Canterbury three years ago


    The High Court at Christchurch was told that Niklas Gebhardt drove off the road at high speed, with the car becoming airborne and smashing into a tree beside Lehmans Road, Rangiora.

    Six year old Lachlan died at the scene, while passers-by dragged the injured father from the burning wreck.

    Justice Cameron Mander has today remanded the 32 year old in custody for sentencing on August 3.
