A busy day ahead for the catering team at Christchurch's Addington Raceway

A busy day ahead for the catering team at Christchurch's Addington Raceway

About 15-thousand punters are expected for tomorrow's New Zealand Trotting Cup.

Eight hundred kilograms of chicken thigh, a tonne of beef brisket and five hundred kilograms of asparagus will be on the menu for the four-thousand people in corporate areas.

Event centre manager Graeme Jones says the two weeks prior to Cup Day are the biggest of the year for the kitchen team.

He says they start 12 hour-days, a few days prior to the race day, to deal with fresh produce as it comes off the trucks.
