All visiting to Dunedin Hospital is on hold

All visiting to Dunedin Hospital is on hold

All wards at the hospital closed to visitors from 6pm last night.

The Southern District Health Board says due to an increased Covid-19 risk and pressure on hospital capacity, visiting restrictions are being tightened to protect vulnerable patients.

There were 617 new community cases, two deaths and 32 people in hospital in the Southern District yesterday.

Visiting will be available under compassionate grounds.

Current visiting restrictions remain for all other areas, with patients to the Emergency Department and Outpatients allowed one support person.
