A Dunedin partygoer in the stairwell crush that killed a 19-year-old says she saw a person in a bedroom close the door as it unfolded, despite pleas to open it

The coroner's investigation into the 2019 death of Sophia Crestani continues today.

At yesterday's hearing, a witness from the Dundas Street party spoke of seeing two boys banging on a bedroom door to be let in, as the crush unfolded.

She told the inquest it was opened, followed by a quick struggle -- and then shut.

The witness believed if it had remained open, more people could've moved to safety.
