A man's been arrested after allegedly attacking a Police officer in Dunedin, after he was seen driving erratically on State Highway One

The 46-year-old was seen near Waikouaiti around half past six this morning, and Police signalled him to stop.

When he did come to a stop a short distance later, he allegedly attacked the sole officer and patrol vehicle.

    The officer wasn't injured.

Police are thanking members of the public who stopped to assist.
