Hamilton City Council's reassuring there's been no environmental damage, after it accidentally leaked human waste into the Waikato River

Hamilton City Council's reassuring there's been no environmental damage, after it accidentally leaked human waste into the Waikato River

In February last year, 1.7-million-litres of wastewater, including human sewage, was discharged

It's been handed a 54-thousand-dollar fine for the incident - after the regional council took it to court.

Hamilton City Council's waters manager Maire Porter says they have a strong commitment to protecting the environment.

She says they've since made improvements to processes.
