DoC's investigating a seal being skinned and eaten by a group occupying Wellington's Mahanga Bay

DoC's investigating a seal being skinned and eaten by a group occupying Wellington's Mahanga Bay

The occupiers, who reportedly moved there after their protest at Parliament was disbanded, told DoC a seal was dying after being caught in a net.
Operations Manager Angus Hulme-Muir says they asked the group to inform DOC when the seal died - so it could be buried.

They weren't told ... but were later informed the seal had been skinned and partially eaten.

DOC are now establishing whether that constitutes any criminal offences.
