House prices are back on the rise, but Auckland and Wellington prices are taking longer to turn around

The Real Estate Institute's House Price Index is up 0.1 percent in the past year.

The index -- the Reserve Bank's official measure of house prices -- is still 16.7 percent below its peak in 2021.

Auckland's down 0.1 percent on a year ago, and Wellington's down 1.2 percent.

Canterbury's up 0.7 percent.
