    Former NewsTalkZB Broadcaster Bill Leathwick (lethwick) has died


    Mr Leathwick's broadcasting career began in the fifties in what was then the New Zealand Broadcasting Service.

    Born in Christchurch, he made his radio debut on what was then 3ZB in 1950.

    He was also one of the early faces on AKTV2 when television began in June 1960.

    In 2007, his more than 50 years in broadcasting saw him made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

    Bill Leathwick's wife died two years ago, and he is survived by their daughter.

    He was 83.
