At least 11 people are dead, and many others wounded, after a shooting at a school in Russia

At least 11 people are dead, and many others wounded, after a shooting at a school in Russia

It happened in Kazan, about 820-kilometres east of Moscow.

There are conflicting reports about the situation, with some Russia news agencies blaming two teenage gunmen - while others say there was one.

State-owned news outlet RIA says a 19-year-old has been detained.

Video footage circulated by RIA shows two children leaping from the third floor of school building as gunshots sounded.

It's not clear whether any other shooters remained at large, or what the motive was for the attack.
