Beth Mooney has been named player of the match for a second straight time after scoring a game-high 70 runs as Australia beats New Zealand by 82 in the second of three T20s.

Australia's ultra-consistent opener was also best on ground in the first clash with 75 not out and followed it up with another typically controlled 42-ball knock in Tauranga as the tourists ended their 20 overs on 3-204.

The White Ferns' chase never got out of first gear after losing Suzie Bates in the second over, with Annabel Sutherland taking 4-8 off 13 balls as New Zealand was bowled out for just 122 in 16.1 overs.

The third and final T20 will be played in Wellington on Wednesday.
