Thirteen people have been inured in a crash in the Far North

Emergency services were called to Lamb Road - off State Highway One at Pukenui, north of Kaitaia - shortly after 7.30 this morning.

Hato Hone St John says three ambulances, one first response unit, one helicopter and an operations manager responded to the scene.

They say their ambulance crews assessed and treated 13 patients whose conditions range between minor and serious.

Seven patients were being transported to Kaitaia Hospital - three in moderate condition and four in minor condition.
