50 were stranded yesterday, and 15 restranded themselves this morning with another six turning-up dead.
Project Jonah says almost 200 volunteers spent four-hours in the water guiding the remaining pod of 15 pilot whales out to deeper water tonight.
A spokesperson says the whales were last seen swimming 1.3 kilometres off the beach - tracking southwest towards Collingwood.
They will remain onsite, tracking the whales tonight, and return again at first light to check the beaches.
