Police officers injured and their cars damaged as they tried to disrupt a large anti-social crowd in Levin overnight

Police officers injured and their cars damaged as they tried to disrupt a large anti-social crowd in Levin overnight

More than 200 cars, each carrying multiple passengers, gathered in a carpark on Bath Street around 8 o'clock, and some 30 Police were deployed to the area.

The convoy moved between Otaki and Levin, throwing projectiles at, and acting violently towards, Police, as officers tried to disperse them.

In the end, six cars were impounded, one person was arrested for disorderly behaviour, and another was arrested for obstruction.

Police will use CCTV footage to follow up on other criminal offending.
