Police are still working to identify the person killed in an overnight fire in Auckland's Otahuhu

Emergency services were called to Tamaki Avenue around nine last night, where a garage was in flames.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Hayward says a scene examination was carried out today alongside a fire investigator.

He adds they're continuing to work through a formal identification process, with a post-mortem examination set to take place tomorrow.
