Associate Finance Minister David Seymour has hit back at Te Pati Maori's actions on Budget Day

Associate Finance Minister David Seymour has hit back at Te Pati Maori's actions on Budget Day

The day saw mass protests up and down the country, and Te Pati Maori announced it had begun the process of establishing a separate Maori Parliament.

Labour's Maori Development spokesperson Willie Jackson called it the worst Budget for Maori in a generation.

But Mr Seymour says it needs to be really clear that the Budget isn't Maori vs non-Maori.

He says it's a small group of people, some of whom may or may not be Maori, who have a different vision for New Zealand, and he's called for a debate based on what's right for society.
